What is the London Fashion Weekend?

Following London Fashion Week, one of the "big four" fashion trade shows in the world, London Fashion Weekend is a fashionista extravaganza, letting everyone in on the fabulous world of fashion.

Once the iconic London Fashion Week has finished, the London Fashion Weekend commences running from the Thursday till Sunday. The London Fashion Weekend is open to the general public, whilst the London Fashion Week is invite only or by application. The London Fashion Weekend features collections from a wide range of popular and new designers, which are available to buy at the boutiques located around the venue. Two types of catwalk shows are featured at the weekend event, which consist of designers collection and a spotlight on the season's trends.

30th anniversary and new location

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this event, London Fashion Weekend will be hosted at the Sattchi Gallery off Kings Road, London. The event has previously been hosted at Somerset House, located just over Waterloo bridge, from Waterloo train station.

The Sattchi Gallery is a London gallery for contemporary art, opened by Charles Saatchi in 1985 in order to exhibit his collection to the public. The Sattchi Gallery has spacious, large rooms, with large modern ceiling lights.

My experiences from past events

I have been to the London Fashion Weekend on 4 occasions now and it has improved year after year. The first time I attended the event at Somerset House, located across the Waterloo bridge. The catwalk shows were hosted in a small tented area which was incredibly hot due to no air conditioning, and a lot of people packed into such a small space. The event co-ordinators have really improved this feature of the weekend, which in my opinion is the highlight of the experience. The catwalk shows are now located in the center of the venue in a large purpose built area which is air conditioned and spacious. The models now walk in a rectangular circuit compared to the traditional "runway" walk, which allows a longer time to admire the outfits on show. More and more fashion boutiques are present after every years event, which has expanded from 1 floor of the Somerset house to now 3 floors. The only downside was at the last event very little men's fashion was on available at any of the boutiques and none was featured on the trend catwalk show, which it had been in previous years. I think this is due to the high volume of women that attend this event and the fashion is now predominantly focused at women. The event also now features big video screens with previews and highlights from the current London Fashion Week and Weekend which was not present at past events.  The attendance for the event has grown year after year and I really noticed this last year. I enjoyed the previous events as I am a fan of fashion and I am hoping that this years event at the new location is better than before. As it the 30 year celebration of this event I am curious to see what new features will be on offer.

Ticket prices & discounts

There are 4 different tickets to choose from depending on how much access you would like at this event.

Bronze : This is the entry level ticket, which is only entry shopping and industry talks. This ticket can also be purchased on the day at the event, unlike the other tickets. A great ticket for casual fashionistas looking to pass a hour or two.

Silver : This is a good ticket for people wanting to experience a taste of the london fashion week. You receive entry, shopping access (with a £10 discount for a purchase) and industry talks like the bronze ticket. You can also select to view a catwalk show from either Trend (the upcoming "in" styles and looks) or Design (a showcase of upcoming styles and clothes from featured designers at the event). Each catwalk show lasts around 30-40 minutes. You also receive a tote bag which has promotional items from the sponsors and future discounts from some of the designers featured at the event.

Gold : This is the same as the silver ticket, but grants you access to see both catwalk shows.

LUXE : This is the ultimate ticket, granting you access to everything at the event. The benefits of this ticket are constantly being updated, for more information please click here

I have found three current working discount codes which provide 15-25% off your total price at the checkout (this excludes LUXE tickets)
